Established in 1995, the Department of Computer Science at Sree Ayyappa College, Eramallikkara has been a cornerstone of academic excellence since the college's inception. With a strong legacy of nearly three decades, the department has consistently strived to provide quality education and skill development in the field of computer science, empowering students to thrive in the ever-evolving digital world. Over the years, the department has reached remarkable heights in equipping students with the expertise and competence needed to compete in today's IT-driven global environment.

The department strongly believes in holistic development and preparing students for real-world challenges. We regularly organize workshops, seminars, coding bootcamps, and training sessions on mathematical aptitude, communication skills, and soft skills. These are often conducted in collaboration with the college placement cell, helping enhance student employability. Additionally, Learning Management Systems (LMS) are used to deliver and monitor academic progress, ensuring students are well-prepared for higher studies and competitive environments.
To foster academic and industry linkages, we have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with reputed institutions and organizations. These partnerships enable students to benefit from guest lectures, collaborative training, and project opportunities.
The department also promotes a vibrant culture of extracurricular activities, encouraging students to engage beyond the classroom to build leadership, teamwork, and creative problem-solving abilities. Students are motivated to undertake software projects beyond the syllabus, allowing them to apply their learning in practical, innovative ways.
To keep pace with emerging technologies, we conduct specialized sessions in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and Cyber Security. The department also supports entrepreneurial aspirations through active involvement in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) of the college, offering incubation support, mentorship, and guidance for students interested in launching their own startups.
